Welcome.

I’m Ian, and I’ve always been inspired by windswept places. I take this inspiration into the hand forged knives I craft. I work to make the blade, handle, and furniture come together to create a product that is truly functional art—a finished knife is always more than the sum of its parts.

Today I re-hand sanded the blade and then sanded, polished, and blued the guard. And the next photos are some of the scenery here!

Goal: to finish this knife all by hand this summer. (No grinder, dremels, even a shop..) No idea if I can pull this off but it’s fun!

More progress today- a lot of little file work for the spacers behind the guard. Might need one more, but so far this knife’s spacers are jasper and copper.

Finally! able to get back in the shop. Coffin handled Bowie is slowly coming along.

Haven’t been able to get to the shop lately but when I do I’ll have a good blacksmithing buddy- Windswept Forge’s newest member: Sir Howard, first of his name, lover of shoelaces, Lord of the Forge.

Haven’t been able to get to the shop lately with school- but have been fully embracing fall. Both of these chef knives are still available if you’re interested!

Two more are nearly ready! Just some final touches to do to make them ready for purchase. Ebony and Birdseye Maple, Padauk and Bocote.

Two more chef knives hand sanded and getting dialed in. I hope to have them done by the end of this weekend!

When your side hustle needs a side project. Just finished an early 14th century scabbard for my Albion Crecy. Leather lined and covered over a maple veneer core and integral belt. Thank you to @todsworkshop for the chape and advice!

Profiling finished- so far really liking the feel of this design.

Forged 8” chef knife- quite a bit of cleaning up to do during profiling but it has a forged distal taper (blade width taper running down the blade).
